Written By Charlotte – Reading and Writing Blog

Welcome to Written By Charlotte

Hello! Im so excited to be launching my new blog. Finally!

You may or may not know, I also have a blog over at Lottiethings.com

I have been talking about setting up a new blog, dedicated to writing, and books, for a while. Now its finally happening!

This post is just going to be a little introduction. I’ll let you know some of the things you might be seeing here on Written By Charlotte.

I have recently finished a Fiction Writing course, and im super eager to start writing my own stories. I felt it would be best to share that journey on a site that’s more ‘nichey’. It just made more sense to me to create a space for me to talk about writing, sharing books i have been reading, and maybe adding in some of my own stories here and there too. Sort of like a little portfolio.

Mini About Me

I will create an actual about me page, but heres a brief overview.

I’m pretty much your average confused adult who doesn’t really know what they want to do, but at the same time. I think I have an idea.

I want to write.
I want to share my thoughts, process, ideas, and maybe help others write their stories too.

Reading is one of my main loves, along with piano music, and (at the moment) Stranger Things.
I have just started reading the Harry Potter series since getting the set for Christmas, and im slowly falling in love with that too.

My main goal in life is to write tons of creative stories, have a go at some poetry, and buy myself a really nice car. (And a new laptop…)

My Favourite Books

I have tons of favourtie books, I mean, I haven’t read every single in the world, of course, and I have no where near read the amount that some other book bloggers have done (but I plan too).

Anyway, here are the four favourite of mine, that I have indeed read. These ones are my faves because I would, without a doubt, read them again. I’m not really someone who does re read books, but i mean, these ones are pretty good.

These books are also the few books that made me love reading. I have created this list in the order I read them in too.

The Perks of Being a Wallflower by Stephen Chbosky

This was the first book that i really read properly as a young adult. I know its a tiny little book, and im not sure many people actually really like it. I took this book on holiday with me, and enjoyed every single word, and moment i spent sunbathing, and reading, and getting heatstroke because i forgot to drink and put suncream on.

We Were Liars by E. Lockhart

This books another short one. I love little books, partly because i know it’s not going to take me long to read, and partly because there’s so much happening, in so little time.

I dont want to give away any spoilers for this book, because even I didn’t see the ending coming. I found this book very imaginative, creative, and it completely sucked me in. I felt like i was there, living with the characters on this little island and homes the family owned.

Just read it.

I’ll Give You The Sun by Jandy Nelson

Now, this books is a lot bigger/longer. It took me quite a while to read, but I read it every day, and adored it.
The main characters are twins, a boy and a girl. Which is the main reason i read it, because i myself am a twin! I have a twin brother, and he’s great, and you’ll probably see some of his short story ideas on here too.

This story takes a few twists and turns, and is a lot about characters developing, re jiggling their lives, and coping with change. There is also a lot of beautiful imagery throughout this novel.

Eleanor and Park by Rainbow Rowell

I LOVE THIS BOOK. I will be creating some short story/fan fiction pieces for this, because if you have read it, you’ll know why *spoiler* – It doesn’t really have an ending, so set conclusion, its left to the reader. So i have decided, to actually write the ending I want for this novel.

It’s a beautiful kind of teen romance novel, about two completely opposite people, developing their relationship, and helping each other through their hard times.

What’s Happening Here

I’m just going to write these in bullet points, because they will be quite self explanatory, and Written by Charlotte has only just started, so there’s not quite a lot to see yet!

  • Book Reviews
  • What Im Reading
  • My Writing Journey
  • Poetry
  • Fan Fiction

Maybe there will be more, but thats all I plan to do at the moment, until I get to grips with it all.
